Gracen vs. yes vs. no

I really like the name Grayson for a boy and Gracen for a girl. I know it is not a documented name but it is also not too out there. I don’t know if it will be a problem because I don’t want her to have to spell it for everyone. What do you think?

She will, without a doubt, have to always spell it for people. Not a good name for a girl. Grace, fine, Gracen, not fine.

Take the n off, Grace is far better than Gracen.

Greyson is nice for a boy. I ADORE Grey, which is probably what his nickname would end up being.
Gracen, however... not so much. Would you be willing to consider Gracelyn?

Maybe Gracia

I like it spelled Gracyn for a girl.

It was actually a girls name before it became a boys one there was a character on Melrose place and that was her name and that was almost 20 years ago! When it was considered a girls one. The popularity of 50shades of grey has given it more exposure as a boys name Greyson nn grey, not to say it can’t be a boys name but it started out a girls one

Wherever you got your info from pp, you might want to stop going there. Since what you just said is complete crap. Grayson was the original name; it didn’t suddenly become popular because of 50 Shades of Grey. It had a huge popularity surge a few years before that and has been around a lot longer than "Gracen"

I have a neighbor who has a little girl with this name but spells it Greyson they call her Grey, I really like it. I do prefer your spelling better and I’d nickname her Grace or Gracie.

Greyson has never been popular for boys from where I come from and I don’t know one boy with this name. I have a great aunt whose nn is Grace but her full name is Grayson Rose

Where do you live? In the USA Greyson is 174 for boys and Grayson is 85...very much a boy name. They are both listed under MASCULINE names.

Essentially; Gracen=bad; Grace=fine but a tad boring

I live in Virginia. I like Grace but I can’t use it as a first name. I would totally use Greyson for a boy though. Grace is a possible middle name. I appreciate the feedback.

Use it if you love it and pay no attention to the naysayers.

I always find comment’s like the 15th commenter’s really funny. They say don’t pay attention to people that don’t like it; but the person ASKED for opinions. Meaning they are going to get good and bad. Just because someone doesn’t like something doesn’t mean you can belittle them or their opinion isn’t as important as someone who likes the name.

I’d save Greyson for a boy (but if you do so, don’t use Grace as a middle name). But I’m confused, if you can’t use Grace as a first name then why would you even consider "Gracen" if it’s only adding one letter to Grace? That doesn’t make any sense

I don’t mind if people don’t like it. That is what I want to know. I don’t like one syllable first names with two syllable last names. It just sounds dull to me. I think by these comments that it just may be better to save for a boy, if I ever have one.

I know plenty of little girls named Gracen. But I do prefer their spelling of Gracyn.
