We have been looking for a VERY long time, all of these names are very dear to us so please don’t be too rude about them if they are not particularly to your taste. Our last name is Patten. We will come up with a middle name once we have the first name. Thanks.

Thank you.

Great choices. I love Jude, Theodore, Jasper, Maxwell, and Reuben. Not crazy about Benedict because I always associate the name with Benedict Arnold (traitor in American history) and Arthur with the Arthur kids TV series (on PBS).

Reuben Patten doesn’t flow well for me. I find Benedict and Maxwell too much.

The best imo is Theodore. Theodore Jasper Patten. Perfection.

Thank you, we love them all so much. Your combinations are very nice, particularly Jude Theodore. We will note that one down. Thanks again.

Oh sorry- didn’t see the other comments there. Thanks for the feedback. The Arthur thing doesn’t bother us and we’re from the UK so have never heard of Benedict Arnold.

Theodore Jasper is nice too.

Jude - Love this one, it seems like a more unique alternative to Jack.
Theodore - I adore Theo, but think that the full Theodore is maybe not a name that a teenage boy would appreciate?
Jasper - Love this one too! Very vintage
Benedict - Probably better suited as a middle name - a bit too associated with eggs!
Arthur - Possibly just a tad too old fashioned
Maxwell - Great name, but there are so very many little Max’s running around these days
Reuben - I like this one, it’s recognisable but actually very underused

Jude in the Uk will be associated with Jude Law. Not always a bad thing, just pointing it out. Arthur is a very old fashioned name but Artie makes a cute nn. Benedict might come over as a bit...pretentious? Please don’t be offended I’m simply rationalising as a fellow Brit. My faves are Theodore, love nn Theo and Maxwell.

A Reuben is a sandwich where I come from!

I really love all of these names! Wonderful choices! I can see why it’d be hard to choose from among them. I’m not sure if I can choose, they’re all so great! If I had to pick, I think it’d be Jasper. I think Jasper Benedict would be cute! But all these names are so handsome, there’s really no way you can go wrong! Good luck! :-)

~God bless!

Great feedback, thank you. I see what you mean about Benedict being associated with eggs and it’s clearly not a favourite on here so we will cross that off our list.

The Jude Law thing doesn’t bother us at all, but thanks.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s good to hear opinions, good or bad, as long as you have a genuine reason why it is bad, not just "it’s ugly" etc. So this feedback is just right and really helpful.

RE: Theodore, Theo is quite a "cool" nickname and I’m sure he will use that when he is in his teens. I know plenty of people who disliked their names as a teenager and came up with nicknames, yet learned to appreciate it when they were older. My husband was always "Kev" and never Kevin, yet now he only goes by Kevin. I suppose you never really can tell what your child will like, but I guess we should be as kind as possible.

Never knew Reuben was a type of sandwich!

Poster, do you have a favourite from your list? :)

Maxwell is by far my favorite.

Arthur is hands down my favorite! I also like Maxwell and Jasper, but not nearly as much.

LOVE the name Jasper! So handsome and lovely at any age.

Jude is also very handsome and simple. I think Jude Law actually makes the name more appealing.

Theodore is great and I love the nickname Theo.

Arthur is okay, not a huge fan but it has great history and I guess Artie is cute.

Maxwell is great, very handsome and you can’t go wrong with Max.

Reuben is probably my least favourite name, it just doesn’t appeal to me for whatever reason. Sorry!

Jasper Theodore Patten is very handsome, or Jasper Maxwell Patten.

Thank you. Lots of great feedback.

My favourite (personally) is Jude, I just love it, plus my mother’s middle name was Judith, so I think it’s a nice touch. But we are trying to stay away from family names because we don’t want family members whose name we haven’t used to feel offended. But this is different because I would love this name even if her middle name wasn’t Judith. So a little dilemma there.

My husband loves Theodore as he loves the idea of naming him Theo, but we can’t get the other names out of our heads.

It’s very difficult!

Have both. Theo Jude is so cool!

I agree. Theodore Jude Patten nn Theo is lovely and very handsome. You can save the other names (all equally handsome) for a future son. Any of them would make a good name for a brother for Theodore.

Arthur Maxwell or Jasper Theodore!

Go with Theodore Jude. It’s perfect.
