I prefer a full name on the birth certificate, but called by a nickname if desired. I don’t really like Eleanor because it seems old-ladyish in my opinion. Penelope nickname Nellie would be a better option. :-)

I think Nellie works better as a Nickname, but I don’t think Elenore really goes with it. I like poster 2’s suggestion of Penelope. Here are some more:

I think it works well on it’s own if that’s what you prefer but I really love Eleanor nn Nellie or Nell.

Nellie (or Nell) is an established nickname for Eleanor, Ellen or Helen since Medieval times so I think it will work just fine. I also think it is very, very pretty. I like Nellie on it’s own too. We had a similar dilemma when we had to decide between Tilly or Matilda nn Tilly for our daughter. We decided on just Tilly in the end and it was the right choice for us.
