A bad combination vs. for our little girl

Hello everyone. We haven’t decided on a name for our baby girl who will be here at the end of this month. My husband just told me he’d like to use Mary as her middle name after his mother. Although I only met his mother a few times before she died, I’m happy with using her namesake. BUT we have a problem. Our last name is Christmas. Something Mary Christmas. It sounds like Merry Christmas and our baby will be born in December. Do you think this matters as it’s only her middle name? Or should we used a variant of Mary? First name suggestions welcomed too. Thanks! Helena and Theodore

I think it’s cool & wierd but you could use a double middle name like ______ Mary ______ Christmas. It’s an option

If your last name is Christmas, I wouldn’t give her the middle name Mary. She may be teased once children find out her middle name. I just wouldn’t do it. if you have to maybe change it a little, like to Marianne or something. Best of luck!!!!

I don’t think its a problem!

The baby may get teased because her middle name is Mary and her lastname is Christmas.

I like Mariella a lot! Thank you for your advice. Any one know of some more variants of Mary? Thanks

I don’t think it’s a big deal. It’s not like Merry Christmas is something bad, so how much teasing potential could there be? I kind of think it’s a fun coincidence.

How often do you ever say your full name out loud? I definitely wouldn’t make her first name Mary, but otherwise, about the most anyone would ever see would be Susie M. Christmas or whatever. Not a big deal at all.

Marie
Mariana
Marissa
Miriam
Muriel
Mara
Marita
Marielle
Marilyn
Molly
Maura
Marissa

...all variations of Mary. But if it’s only a middle name, I don’t see a problem with Mary itself. It’s a beautiful classic name with historical meaning, and you’re honoring your grandmother. And like Sara said, how often do you say your full name aloud?

Somehow I think Holly Christmas is just as bad for us. I like Ivy and Elizabeth though

We do think Mary is a priority and I know it means so much to Teddy. We are still considering Mary, dw

Marin or Marren may be cute. Good Luck!

I think it’s fine. There’s a documentary somewhere on Youtube about a lady named Mary Christmas and she didn’t seem to be annoyed by it. In fact, she actually kind of seemed to enjoy it.

Besides, it’s her middle name and even if someone puts 2 and 2 together, Merry Christmas is cute.

Maybe you could use you mother-in-laws middle name or maiden name as your child’s middle name.

I’d hyphenate it/make it a double middle name
Mary-Kate
Mary-Jane
Mary-Claire
Mary-Ellen
Mary-Beth
etc.
Just having one more name between Mary and Christmas makes a world of difference!
