Still A vs. Girl Name
Hey everybody! We are looking for names for our princess and we haven’t had any luck on our own or from friends and family so we’re really hoping you all can help us! We want her to have a girl name (nothing that is considered unisex at all) BUT the names absolutely cannot end with A or any long E sound. Our baby girl will join her two big brothers, Miles and Landon. Please help us! Hope everyone has been enjoying their holiday!
The Top Baby Name is...
Tanis(pronunciation is literally Tan-is aha)
Eponine (this to me sounds poetic and sweet but may sound a little masculine to some)
We like Laurel, Violet, Charlotte, and Rose! Do you think Charlotte will always be shortened to Charlie or Lottie? We hate Charlie and Lottie doesn’t work because of the long E, so we’re a bit concerned about that.
Thank you so much for all the responses!
We like Lillian but we can’t use it since it ALWAYS gets shortened to Lily which we can’t use becuase of the ending
We like Eloise but we can’t use it since we can’t use anything with "Louise" in it, and where we live it always gets shortened to Ellie which we can’t use because of the ending
We don’t like Lauren, Oriane, or Bertrande sorry
Just make sure that EVERYONE knows her name is only Charlotte or Lillian and no shortened versions and always call her that and you’ll probably be okay; my niece is named Valentina and she just goes by that.
People never listen to that, even with my name. It’s a longer name with a well known nickname and people ALWAYS shorten it despite me always saying what I want to be called. So we want to avoid that as much as possible (which is why with Miles and Landon we tried to avoid names with nicknames)
We like Alice! So far our official list is Violet, Rose, and Alice but we’re worried Rose and Alice are too old next to Miles and Landon
None of the names from the list starting with Kaitlyn are names we like sorry!
We like Willow and Eden is all right too! The person whose list starts with Starr, sorry but we really hate every name on that list. We don’t want unisex names (any Son name is unisex), and of the ones we could use (we can’t use Nicole or Frances) they are the opposite style of what we like
Rose is perfect!
Rose is also my middle name, so my husband really likes it. I’m still concerned about the style though; I’ve always had, what my friends call, "name OCD" where the names have to fit, have to flow, and can’t start with the same letter (I’ve official crossed Laurel off the list because of that). So I’m just worried Rose is too different of a style. We like Isabel but it always gets shortened here to Izzy or Belle which we don’t like
We like Adele! We aren’t fans of super out there or uncommon names; like for example the names Bluebell, Clover, Blossom, and Plum actually scare us a little.
Actually, Rose showed up as a name style you might like when putting in the boys names on nymbler!
I feel like you didn’t really read the post since almost all of the names that you suggested are names that we can’t use. You have nice suggestions but we can’t use them because they end in the letters or sounds we said we can’t use
Interesting! Thanks, Rose and Violet are on our list, along with Adele and Willow. We are still debating on Eden as I know it technically is unisex which I don’t like
We like Evangeline and Imogen but Evangeline will definitely be shortened (and most likely to Evie) which won’t work for us and my husband says he can’t really imagine us with an Imogen (he thinks it’s a nice name but probably not the one for us)
Edith is a little too dated sounding for us sorry!
Elin- ee-lin, is similar to Eden, but not unisex.
We don’t like Beatrice, Blythe, Faith, or Guinevere sorry!
My family is full of golfers (including myself) so whenever I see Elin I think of Tiger Woods (who I am not a fan of at all) and we like Carys but we can’t use it sorry!
We don’t like any of those sorry, they’re either too dated or too trendy (sounding) to us!
Nimue (pron: Nee-moo-way)
Sorry but besides Morgan (which is unisex to us) they are all too out there for us!
Bethan is a little too different for us and looks like the Y was left off Bethany sorry!
Madison and Kendall are unisex (and actually, just boy names to me) which we don’t want and we don’t like the other names sorry!
Every Blair I’ve met has been a boy so I couldn’t name my daughter Blair; we can’t use Margaret and Joan is a little too dated sorry!
If it helps these are the ones we like:
Rhys/Reese was actually what we were going to name Miles until a good friend of ours named their son Rhys! We like Maeve but have a good friend with a daughter named Maeva so it would be too close to use
We sort of like Coral but we can’t use it sorry
Sorry but none of those are really our style! It’s seeming like we aren’t finding anything else so we will probably pick from the names on our short list!
You should go for Violet.
We don’t like any of those sorry!
Violet is really common right now which is making us a little uneasy; we do like the name though. We will probably sit on the names for a few days and see what happens!
I have scoured the name lists! Looks like you have a good short list. I can’t think of much to add at this point!
my daughters name is Naomii Elmira.
We don’t like Adrienne, Rosalyn, Kristen (we actually can’t use Kristen) or Kiersten sorry!
Elimra ends with A which we said in the poll we can’t use.
We don’t like any of those sorry, they’re not our style!
