Funny you say that Mary Beth is so common and yet, I have lived in 9 different states (father was in USAF while I was growing up), and I have only met 1 in my entire life (and I’m 24). I don’t think it’s as common as you think it is.

I much prefer Mary Beth. I actually know a Mary Beth. I agree that it’s not terribly common, and even less common now than it once was. Mary Beth sounds much better together than Laura Beth in my opinion.
