Too informal vs. Fine as a full name

I really like the name Leo, but a lot of people have been saying its ’incomplete’ or ’informal’. I’m not really a fan of Leonard, Leopold, etc. so I would prefer to just use Leo. What are your thoughts?

It works perfectly fine as a full name. Historically it’s been used as a full name, not just a nickname for one of the other names you mentions. There were a number of popes named Leo as a full name.
