Help B/G twins vs. Devyn Mckinley
I am expecting b/g twins in a month and I cant decide on a girl name. I already have a 2 year old son whose name is Rylan Maddox. I have the boy twins name picked out and it will be Declan James but cant decide between two names for the girl. They are Devyn Mckinley and Dylen Paige. Please help
The Top Baby Name is...
I love Declan James. Both girls names however are hot messes. I would assume you had twin boys if I heard Declan and Dylan/Devon together. If you must Devon Paige (spelled correctly. The "y" don’t make it look feminine they just make it look trashy) but I would suggest using something more feminine like Delaney. Declan James and Delaney Paige would be perfect.
I agree, that misspelling names makes a bad impression. Devin Mckinley are both boys names, as are Dylan Paige. If you have a girl, I strongly recommend choosing a girls name. Otherwise Rylan will sound the most girly.
We are open for suggestion but we are sticking with devyn and dylen for the girl we both love those names
Actually Devyn and Dylen are unisex names
Actually they are not. Dylan (spelled this way) is a Welsh masculine name. Devon is an Irish surname coming from the masculine first name Damhan. Both have been used on girls only in modern times as it is trendy now to use boys names for girls. They are both however way more popular for boys in America. In Ireland and Wales they would laugh if you named a girl Devin or Dylan.
The unisex issue doesn’t bother me I just think they are both way too similar in sound to Declan.
I looked up and they are unisex names
Thank you and do you have any suggestions to the person that said the unisex issue
The only website you can trust for origin, meanings and gender of names is Behind the Name.com. Lots of other sites tend to elaborate on meanings and put names as unisex when they are not because they have been used on both sexes in modern times. Traditionally both Dylan and Devon are male names.
Here are the links to the meanings and histories of the names. It also displays popularity and as you can see both names have only been appropriated to girls in the last 2 decades. They are strictly male in there places of origin and have been for the past 100 years. Believe me, I know what I am talking about.
I dont care if they are not popular or what we love those names
Devyn is a unisex name and i think we might name her devyn or change the name declan to Cayson and name her claire
I know you love those names but put youself in your daughters shoes. How would you like it if everyone mistook you for a boy all the time? How would you like it if everyone misspelled your name all the time? Most of the time her name will be said out loud and she will be mistaken for a boy 99% of the time if you name her Dylen, especially with twin brother Declan. I truly believe you can find another name you love thats spelled correctly and is truly a girls name.
Declan and Claire would be awesome together. I don’t think twins names have to match. But if you really want them to Cian (kee-an) and Claire or Carson and Claire would also be cute.
I just commented and said we have found 2 more names for our twins and they are Cayson James and Claire Elizabeth
Me and My husband have always loved the name Devyn Mckinley for a girl
