Sigourney Anne vs. Sigourney Claire

Is "Sigourney" an awful first name?(for a girl) I would STRONGLY discourage shortening to "Sig" or "Siggy". I like the sound of the name as it is, famous actresses nonwithstanding, but I’m having trouble convincing my DH. Thoughts, anyone?

The Top Baby Name is...

Sigourney Anne Turner

Sigourney Claire Turner

No. Gender confusion, not pretty at all. What about Harper, Willow, Calla, or Annalise?

I don’t think its a good idea, sorry.

Everyone will think you named her after the actress. As long as you are good with people asking you that all the time, then go for it. Poster one, gender confusion?? I’ve never heard it on a boy.

If you’ve never heard of Sigourney Weaver, I can see how it would be confusing.

I like Gourney, but not Sigourney

On the one hand, I think the actress will be less important of a cultural connection in her generation. (Also, her real name is Susan, and Sigourney is a stage name). On the other hand, I don’t love the name. And you have to convince your husband if you truly love it. GL!

I love that it’s unique!
I’d take being a Sigourney over another Emma/Ella/Olivia any day.
