Fletcher vs. Yes vs. No?

Hello, me again. Yesterday, I posted about the name Fletcher and your thoughts on it. Well, I read the comments and some people liked it, some were very against it. The comments were pretty evenly matched, so I wanted more opinions. Don’t worry I wont post again. Thank you.

Is it for a dog? It’s a somewhat dated dogs name, like Fido.

I don’t think it’s the worst name out there, but it’s near the bottom. I don’t like the sound, for one, fletch sounds like retch, and all the profession names...they’re just so surname-y! I feel silly calling all these boys Parker and Hunter and Thatcher and Archer and Fisher and Fletcher. I feel like I’m talking to a class of tradesmen or a class whose first names I just don’t know.

No, not for a dog. I like it more for a human, but thank you.

One of the best people I know is named Fletcher. He’s a reporter now. I say go for it.

I really don’t like it. There’s something off about it. It kind of reminds me of Butcher.

I don’t see it as a dog name at all personally. I say go for it because names like "Carter" have been used for a long time and it has such a similar feel to it.

I think Archer would be a much better name with a similar meaning.

LOL, something about the name Fletcher makes me think of farts.

There are some of these trendy names I like, but Fletcher’s not one of them. It just doesn’t have a nice sound. Maybe, like the pp said, save it for a puppy. It kind of sounds like fetch :)

I like it very much. I don’t understand the intense dislike some have for it. I’ve never met a dog named Fletcher. Ever.

Someone is totally spamming the votes.

I don’t see this as a first name. If it was your surname it would be ok to call him by it sometimes as kind of a nickname, but it doesn’t really sound like a first name. At least, it won’t sound good when he’s out of grade school.

I went to school with a Fletcher and everyone loved his name and him. I see absolutely nothing wrong with it! Go for it, it is an awesome name.

I’d never really thought about it until I saw your poll, and I actually really like it :)
At the end of the day though, it only comes down to your opinion. It would be pretty boring if everyone was called the same name. There’s always going to be someone who won’t like whatever you pick.
