Is Philomena a usable name for a little girl, or is it too out there? Possibly with the nickname Mena or Philly.

It’s a little frilly and out there but I think it’s a great break from all the Ava’s and Olivia’s that will be in her class. I love the nickname Mena!

I’m not a fan. As a child, we attended St. Philomena church, so all the associations of long masses in Latin, cloying incense, and canned prayers go along with the name for me. But realize, it’s an association thing for me and the name itself isn’t bad.
