Japanese & American vs. Girl First vs. & Middle Names

Hi. My husband and I are having a little girl. I’m American and he’s Japanese. I prefer the names Chloe, Andrea, and Evelyn but he prefers the names Atsuko, Kaito, and Tamiko. We have a son named Nicholas Mitsuko. For our daughter he thinks the Japanese name should be first this time but I disagree. Please help and if you know anymore American/Japanese names please feel free to give first and middle names. -The Fucchi’s

I LOVE the Japanese name Suki. The American spelling of it would be Sukey.

I think it would be a very nice compromise for your second child to have a Japanese name for their first name.

I love these names:

Aki
Chiyo
Hana*
Kami*
Kaya*
Keiko
Kioko
Maiya* (My-ah)
Marise
Sakura
Sasa
Suzu
Tama
Tami*
Tamika
Tomiko
Tora
Tori*

I starred* the names that are used a lot in America and so I believe most people will know how to pronounce them. I really love that you want to honor your children’s heritage with their names. Good luck to you!!

If you’re living in America, I think you should do the same as you did with your son - American first name, Japanese middle name. It would make her life so much easier.
