I think Huntleigh is VERY masculine. Hunter is too.

Perhaps you could just use her initials as inspiration:
Georgia Maureen -- etc

Why can’t you wait until you have a boy and name him Hunter rather then give your daughter absolutely horrible name. Sorry.

What about Leigh, as a middle name or even first name, instead of huntleigh? Or Leigh Ann or Annaleigh, to be alittle positive instead of absolutely horrible like the last poster.......

Hunter is cute for a girl, but Huntleigh sounds incredibly made up and horrid especially for a girl.

What about the name Greta? It is perfect for a girl and it sounds like Gertrude.

I love the sentiment behind it. I don’t think it’s a terrible name or horrid as some of the other posters, and I think the -leigh makes it more feminine. You could also use Muriel as a fn. Or Leigh as someone else suggested.

Maybe use Huntleigh as a middle name. That would be a cool unique middle name.

I really think it would be a great middle name. Huntleigh.
Maybe
Greta Huntleigh
Gretchen Huntleigh
Grace Huntleigh
Hannah Huntleigh
That would be such a great way to honor your grandmother. Please keep us posted on your decision.
Good Luck

What about just Gertie instead of Gertrude. Also there is an actress named Hunter so you could use it as a girl’s name Unisex names are popular right now. Huntleigh is very cute and unique. You could even spell it differently; Huntley, Huntlee

Gertrude Leigh "Gertie"
Hunter Leigh
Leigh Gertrude
Greta Leigh

Hunter Leigh

I do find Hunter a pretty serious name, how ’bout playing around with your g’ma’s name till you find something you like. My M.I.L.’s name is Zofia (Polish), but I chose Sophia as my babe’s middle name. I understand your misgivings about Gertrude and Muriel, I saw Greta (lovely) suggested, or Gretal and what about Mariel, Mariela, Marilla. If in doubt why not have it as a middle name , then you can choose something you love for a first name while still honouring family history.
