First name vs. Middle name vs. Either one

I recently came upon the name Addington and I’m starting to really love it, but should it be used as a first name, middle name, or either one? Also if you have any double middle name ideas that would be great. Thanks!

Also Addington would be used for a girl.

I would only use it as a middle name for a girl. And probably only if it was a family name. Maybe Adley. (Like Hadley without the h).

I thought Addington was a surname. Definitely don’t make it a first name.

I’d only use it for a boy - similar to Paddington Bear!

I would use it as a middle name. Its rather pretentious.

If it’s a family name, then go for it for either gender. If it’s not, then don’t saddle you child with such an unwieldy name and odd name.

I think it works best as a first name, because otherwise it sounds too much like a surname in the middle name spot.
