Baby girl’s name which should be pronounced "muh-lee-uh" like Malia Obama or rhyming with the name Aaliyah. Thoughts? Spelling? Too hard to pronounce? Pearl is DH’s grandmother’s name. Big brother’s name is Mason. Thank you!

I really like it! It is unique and pretty without sounding weird. I like it spelled Malia best. Good luck!
There are much better names out there. Pearl would be lovely as a first name.
Don’t use Pearl as her first name unless you want your daughter to sound like she’s 100 years old. I agree with the first poster, Milia is lovely and unusual, yet has an uncomplicated and familiar sound.
Pearl would be a great first name. It’s becoming more popular now, tons of celebrities have named their children Pearl. It definitely doesn’t sound like they’re 100 years old.
No offense!--Malia Pearl sounds like she’s mauling a pearl to me.
I wouldn’t want my child to have any relativity to an Obama.
Celebrities also name their children Apple, Blue, Pilot, Kyd and Fifi...just because a celebrity does it doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.
I think Pearl sounds very old as well - keeping it as a middle name to honor his grandmother and don’t care for it as a first name. Thanks for comments on the spelling :)
Pearl is rising in the popularity numbers. It’s as much an up and coming name as an old lady name. This is exactly what people were saying about Hazel 10 years ago. Now it’s moderately popular.
I have a friend named Maleah. She spells it this way and never has issues with pronunciation. I think it is a beautiful name!
Malia’s a little too flowery for my taste, but I do prefer the Malia spelling. Maliyah just looks too trendy and jumbled. Malia is cleaner, more simple. I do think Malia Pearl flows really well. A unique combination.
