Juliana vs. Juliana
I like the name Juliana but pronounced Juli-ANNA (not AH-NA). Will it always get mispronounced? I also want her nickname to be Julia. Do you think people will shorten it to Julie instead? Comments are greatly appreciated!

I think if you add an extra "n", to make Julianna, it won’t be mispronounced as often, and her nn could still be Julia.

I think Juliana would be Juli-ah-na and Julianna would be the way for you to go. I think if you guys stick with the full name most people will do the same. It’s a nice name.

I have a friend named Juliana (julie-on-uh) and she goes by julie. I would suggest Julianna, it would be better for the nickname Julia!

I have known several people named Juliana and they all pronounced it in your preferred way. I think that’s the most common, and it’s certainly the most elegant spelling.

I agree with the posters who suggested that if you use 2 Ns - Julianna - people are more likely to pronounce it the way that you wish. I think Julia would be an appropriate nickname. You can only control that to a certain extent.. once she hits school age, friends are inclined to impose whatever nickname they want, i.e. "Jules". :)

People tend to call kids by what their parents call them, so if you start the trend it should catch on
