Find something else vs. Use Caprice

Hello again, yesterday I posted about this name and a few people said that it had a negative meaning- when I’d been looking, it said it meant whimsical and poetic.. I still love Caprice but I’m worried people will have a negative connotation. Would you? If yes, please can you suggest some similar names? Thanks

Maybe because the noun means to change one’s mind without apparent or adequate motive.
I like Capri or Capriana.

It’s not just a word. It’s also a name. There’s nothing wrong with it. I would go for it if that’s what your heart says. GL

The definition of the word caprice is:

a : a sudden, impulsive, and seemingly unmotivated notion or action
b : a sudden usually unpredictable condition, change, or series of changes
2
: a disposition to do things impulsively

Defining it as whimsical is putting the best possible spin on it. Usually the words caprice and capricious mean refer to someone or something that is unpredictable and unable to follow a single course of action. It’s not really a character trait that I’d want to name my kid after.

If I heard it as a child’s name, I’d think the parents didn’t really know what it meant. I don’t know that I’d think badly of the kid but I’d assume the parents aren’t the type to check things out very thoroughly.

I think of music and whimsy.
It’s a pretty sounding name as well.

If you have concerns, you could use Catrice, which means "pure".

There are many name websites, but not all of them are authoritative. Websites like babynames.com are fluffy and don’t provide the necessary information to understand a name’s meaning or origin. Some names are labeled just "African" instead of providing a specific language or national origin. Caitlin and Caitlyn are listed as seperate names, one Irish and one American. In other words, not all names websites are credible.

In my opinion, the most comprehensive and accurate names website, is behindthename.com. This website often has very detailed explanations about names. According to this website, Caprice has the meaning "impulse."

Consider the impact of the name on the child. Think about whether you would want the name yourself, not just if you like how the name sounds.

I just don’t like the sound of Caprice. It reminds me of some tropical island or Italy, for some reason.
