Baby Name Poll Results
opinions vs. please
My husband and I are expecting our first child, and we’ve started pulling together a list of names. Right now one of our top names is Peyton, but we don’t know if we like it better for a girl or a boy. We’re leaning slightly towards boy, but we’re also concerned that it might be too popular for girls to use on a boy. We’re not opposed to unisex names, but we don’t want to use something that everyone associates with a girl. What do you think? Could you please also suggest a few names (say five) for each gender? Thank you! ~Caroline

I would assume Peyton was a girl.
How about Leighton instead?
Even though it’s been getting more popular for girls, I still think of Payton as a boy’s name. I know little boys named Payton and nobody mistakes them for girls. I think of Peyton as a more feminine spelling. I think you could use it for either gender.
Payton for a boy, Peyton for a girl, in my opnion.
I think Peyton is both! similarly to Taylor, it’s originally a boy’s name but commonly used as a girl’s name. If you like it, you don’t have to abide by current gender rules.
Some people wouldn’t think it was a girl name because of Peyton Manning.
Alexis (Also could use for a boy it is unisex)
I actually really like Peyton on a boy, but I would pair it with a more traditional middle name like Michael or William.
I know roughly the same number of female and male "Peytons" (the males I know spell it Peyton though, the females Payton). I’m personally not a fan of unisex names at all...so here are my suggestions for you:
Chloe or Zoe
Peyton is much nicer for boy imo. I wouldn’t assume gender upon seeing the name, though.
Peyton is far better on a boy. The only Peyton I know is a boy.
I like Peyton on a boy not on a girl.
Wow, so many suggestions! Thank y’all so much! We really like these names.
I’ve always thought Peyton was cute for a girl. I don’t much like it on a boy.
I would assume Peyton was a girls name.
