I have always loved the name Temperance. Sydney Temperance sounds good. Good luck!

Wow, funny you said that. Sydney is my first name! Thanks for the suggestion. Temperance would flow with a lot of first names.

Perhaps:

Gloria/Glory
Julia (For July)
Belle (from Liberty Bell)
America

I dunno. Independence seems a bit much.

How about something to do with the history? Who is your favorite patriot? Etc.

I love Liberty and America. Honor is interesting, as is Justine. I also like Freedom, or Ireland’s version Saoirse (seer-sha.) I also like the idea of a patriot or awesome person from history...we’re considereing Lincoln since my husband is obsessed with the presidents. Very neat idea, GL!

Too bad you’re not having a boy. You could easily find one of those. You could even just use Patriot.

Do you have a favorite military corps?
Betsy after Betsy Ross is very nice.

What about researching the names of generals and/or presidents (ie Patton, Kennedy, McKinley)
Just a thought

I don’t know if it is a girl or boy, so both gender names are appreciated!

What do you think of Eleanor (as in Eleanor Roosevelt)? All these suggestions are great help! Thanks!!!

I love the name Eleanor, and have a new little cousin named Eleanor Faith.

Eleanor Liberty would sound nice, or Eleanor Glory.

I like the idea of Liberty but calling her by the nn Libby, that’s adorable!

Eleanor Temperance! That is kind of weird that Sydney is your name! lol. That is one of my favorite name combos, Sydney Temperance.

Whatever "word" name you choose, run it through spell-check first, okay? "Independance" is not a word.

Well, they’re not so bad as middle names. But I think it’d be an even better idea to research American heroes and find names you like. Then, when they’re children, they can find out about them and be inspired by their example.
