Geneva vs. Yes vs. No

I like the name Genevieve but am worried that it’s becoming quite common (I have several friends who have used the name for their daughters). Geneva seems to me like a good alternative, but I’m interested to hear what others think. Nickname/middle name suggestions are appreciated as well! Thanks, Lucille

I like Geneva but I don’t think it’s as pretty as Genevieve. Sorry! I like some of the alternatives you can get from Genevieve.

Reminds me of Lake Geneva (town in Wisconsin) or the Geneva Convention. It’s pretty, but I don’t think it will work all that well.

Geneva was actually fairly popular in the early 1900’s. It never quite broke into the top 100 but it came close. It’s absolutely usable and would be lovely on a child today.

I love both of these names! I would use Geneva too. You get some of the best nicknames out of it too. Eva, Evie, Eve, Neeva, Gen, Jenny, & Jenna.

Geneva is my grandmothers name :).
I will mention that I knew of a girl in high school whose named was spelled this way, but pronounced "Jen-ih-vuh". It was different. I don’t think that’s how people would naturally want to pronounce it, but I thought I would throw it out there since you are looking for something more unique.

I don’t like it. I do think it’s a move unique alternative to Genevieve, but I just don’t like the sound.
