Help with vs. spelling of a name

My husband and I love the name Annabelle, we find it so sweet for our little girl. However, I went to another name site to see what others thought of the name and people said the spelling Annabelle was too frilly and young looking and looked like two names mushed together and that the spelling Annabel was more classic and mature and would serve better for a girl in her life. We love the Annabelle spelling more but not sure if we should keep the spelling or use the Annabel one.

Personally, I think the spelling Annabel is prettier, but if you love the other spelling then you should use it!

My favorite spelling is Annabel but if you like it spelled the other was you should use that. Both ways are pretty.

I like Annabel better also, it looks more sophisticated.

I love the name! Personally, I also like the Annabelle spelling more, and you should use whatever spelling you like better.

I like it spelled Anabelle, just one less n than your original spelling. I prefer the lle at the end.

Annabel looks incomplete and somewhat masculine, with the name Abel so prominent. I recently heard Annabeth and thought it was lovely!

Personally I’m not a huge fan of the name at all. But both spellings are fine. If you like Annabelle more than Anabel, than go with that! People are always going to have something negative to say about even the most beautiful name. Go with what YOU and your husband like most. It’s fine to ask for help but at the end of the day do what feels right to you. It may seem like not a big deal, but this is the (spelling) of the name your daughter will carry forever. You might regret looking back and thinking you let someone else choose for you. Hope that was helpful, I was not trying to be rude at all. Good luck :)

I personally prefer Annabel, but at the end of the day it’s your kid and your decision

I like it!!

I prefer Annabelle. It looks more complete and I think it’s probably more common than Annabel. As for one being more ’mature’ or ’better’ than the other professionally, they’re both correct spellings of the same name, so how much difference is there really? Use the one you like best.

I personally don’t like this name, but it’s not a bad one. Just not my style. I personally think that the Annabel spelling looks weird and tacky. Annabelle is much MUCH prettier, and if you like this spelling, then use it. It is your child and you shouldn’t name her something just because someone else told you to.
And... Person who said to spell it Anabel, that would be pronounced differently. Ana is pronounced ON-UH, and Anna is pronounced AN-UH

Edit- Person who like the spelling Anabelle****

I think Annabelle is nicer. Annabel looks like you’ve left something off.

Annabelle is by far the more popular spelling. As of 2013, Annabelle is the 81st most popular name in the US. Annabel is the 480th most popular. So you’d probably have a ton more spelling problems with Annabel. Most people will probably automatically spell it Annabelle.

I personally like Annabel better but if you love Annabelle then go for it, neither spelling is wrong and both are technically correct.

I prefer the other spelling, but honestly it’s the same name either way. Both spellings sound exactly the same and both are equally legitimate. I don’t think the spelling Annabelle is too frilly or any less professional than Annabelle. If you were spelling it something like Anuhbele or some other "yoo-neek" spelling I would understand people’s comments, but not for Annabelle.

Annabelle is a a perfectly fine name! It’s becoming more popular, too. My niece said one of her favorite books has an Annabelle in it.

Annabelle is perfectly acceptable. It all comes down to personal preference. If your preference is Annabelle, go with Annabelle! Simple as that. :) It’ll age perfectly fine. It’s been very popular since the 19th century at least, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t.

If you like Annabelle, go with it! I like that spelling too.

I think Annabelle looks more complete too. Go with what you like best. Its your baby. You are the one who is going to be writing it, not any of us. I always appreciate people’s opinions, but ultimately the choice is yours.

Good luck!

I also prefer Annabel to Annabelle, but I don’t think you’re doing your daughter a disservice or anything thy using the latter spelling.

I definitely prefer Annabelle. It looks the most complete. Annabel looks like you forgot some letters.
