Pippa is not a nickname for Penelope, as far as I know, Pippa is a nickname for Philippa... And I have no idea why a girl named Catherine would be nicknamed Cricket. .. Cat would be much more likely... Scout from Scarlett isokay, as in it’s not as bad as the other two, but Scar would be more likely to be used as a nickname... if this is for a baby name, choose the name you like best and let her grow up and base a nickname on who she is, rather than who you want her to be before she is even born. If it’s for a character, try to use nicknames that make sense with the name she has, or just give her a more masculine name ...

I don’t see how any of these nicknames match the names themselves. having said that a nickname can be anything you wish but very often they are not ever what you plan or would like them to be.
I think it is far more important to choose names you love and forget nicknames until she is older.

I love the nn Cricket, but I think it is a nn for Christine.
Catherine would usually be Cathy, Cate, Catie, Cat.

As noted by another poster, Pippa is a nn for Philippa, or if you want to go into fantasy Swedish literature Pippa is short for Pippilotta. :)
