Phoenix vs. for a boy?

I was thinking of naming my son Phoenix James, but a couple of people recently told me that they think it’s more of a girl’s name. Do lots of people think this? Would it be a feminine name to give a boy? - Alice

I really like Phoenix for a boy... I’ve actually always thought of it as more of a boys name, there’s something masculine sounding about it.
Phoenix James is a really handsome, solid name!

I’ve only heard it being used for a boy. Maybe they are confusing it with Arizona. I love Phoenix James! Great name.

I’ve always felt it was a boys name. Nothing about it feels feminine to me and I would never use it for a girl. Phoenix James is really great though. Best of luck.

I don’t care for the name Phoenix because of the city but if it were to be used it would be for a boy.

I think Phoenix works on both genders. I personally prefer it for a girl, but I don’t think it’s bad as a boy’s name.
