Brooks (yes ) vs. Brooks (no way)
What are your thoughts on the boy’s name Brooks. When I first met a neighbor with the name I thought it was a bit feminine. Now that I am pregnant, I am thinking the name might be nice for a son. I like how it is easy to spell and not too common. Is it too girly though?

I don’t think it’s feminine at all, my nephew is named Brooks and it’s a very charming name. I don’t think it flows too nicely with your surname, however. GL

I don’t mind it. I personally would never use it but it’s okay to use on a boy I think :)
I adore Brooks on a boy. Way too harsh and masculine for a girl, perfect for a little boy.

I have an Uncle Brooks who is a lawyer. I love him dearly! I love that name and I don’t think there is any association with the female name Brooke in my mind.

Brooks is a boy’s name, Brooke is a girl’s name. I don’t know if Brooks would flow well with your last name, though, especially with the initials BM (sorry). Maybe Brooks would work better as a middle name.

Two of you have mentioned it doesn’t sound good with our last name. I have worried the same thing. Our last is kind of the pits when it comes to finding first names. I struggled with this with our other children.

I know a family who just had a baby boy named Brooks. :) I think it sounds fine with your last name. I would suggest a longer middle name. Brooks Alexander, maybe.

I have a cousin named Brooks. I always thought it was a bit girly, but now it seems more southern than anything. I wouldn’t use it myself, but it’s not bad.
