Is Shane ok? vs. Yes vs. No
I just have a question. My daughter’s name is Aleah Shay and I’m currently pregnant with my 2nd child. We never thought we’d have another child so we used Shea since it was similar to his mn, Shane. Well now that we’re having our surprise baby boy he wants to use Shane. My question is since Shea is her mn, would it be okay to name our son Shane? Also looking for mn suggestions.

I think it’s totally ok unless you use Shae as a normal part of her name when speaking to her.

Never mind, I misread your poll. I thought it said that your name is Aleah Shay.
I think it’s fine since Shay/Shea is her middle name. Poster 3

My husband’s mn is Shane, but we used Shay for her mn because it was similar to Shane. Now my husband wants to name our son Shane (will be his fn). I like the name but I was just wondering if it was too similar or if it works even matter since one is a mn and one will be the fn.

I have a brother named Skyler Shae and a brother named Shane and it has never been an issue. I say go for it!

I think it’s way too similar and a little too much "honoring" of the father. Also, my brother’s name is Shane and he’s always had problems with people saying it like Shawn or even assuming it was a girl’s name. I don’t like it.
