I love Penelope and Eleanor, but I’m not too keen on Millicent. I feel as though your child may get picked on for being given the name Millicent. Just something to consider.

Love Amelia! But I also like Georgiana nn Georgie and Millicent nn Millie.

Why would she get picked on if her name was Millicent? I see nothing wrong with any of the names. Maybe parents should teach their children not to pick on other children. Now there’s something to think about!

I never said that it would be to pick on children (or anyone) based on anything (looks, IQ, name, etc.) I completely agree with you that children should be taught not to pick on each other, but there is always going to be at least one person that’s going to choose to make fun of someone for something as small as having an uncommon name. Having gone through it myself, I was only hoping to save an innocent child some trouble and a lot of insecurity. At the end of the day it comes down to this new mummy and her instincts. Oh and I also quite like the name Amelia.

Childern will always tease other children, should it happen no? Should you try to make someone feel like a monster for pointing that little unpleasant fact of life you would like to sweep under the rug? No.

Kids wouldn’t pick on other kids if they are taught not to do so. I never picked on anyone growing up because I knew better. Also Millicent isn’t that uncommon of a name.
