Dilemma vs. please help!

My legal first name is Catherine. I want to use that in my daughter’s name but I feel that may be seen as selfish or conceited. Do you all think so? Maybe as a middle name? I would spell it differently more than likely. Baby girl will join Grady Jensen, 4. Thank you for all your help!

I think it is conceited to name a child with your name or middle name just because you can. I think a child should have their own identity and it is unfair in my opinion.

I disagree. I think it’s fine using your name as a mn. Guys do it all the time, so why can’t women do the same?

My mother said when I was having my first baby not to give her a name from our family tree, to give her a unique name of her.

But people give family names all the time. Little boys are named after their daddy’s quite often.

It’s completely your call

It’s cheesy. I know a woman named Mary who named her daughter Mary and then called her Mary Jr. I think the same of guys doing it. Then there are jrs, and the third and the fourth and it gets confusing. I say it is different if you are honoring someone, but honoring yourself is pretentious and cheesy.

No, I agree a child should have it’s own identity. Maybe use a name that’s the same but different. Like:
Catriona
Clementine
Cara
Kristin
Chiara
Keira
Catalina
Kathleen
Kaya
Caroline
Quinn

I think you can name her after whom ever or what every you want. Its your child, doesnt seem selfish at all. Men have children named after them so women should be able to do the same. And you said legal name which means you probably go by something else. Using it as a middle name or first name would be ok either way. If everyone else is ok with it in your family.

Only as a middle name and as a first name I would just use the same letter.

Cassandra

Cadence
Charlotte

I think it is fine! Your child will have their own identity even if she shares her name. A double name like Molly-Catherine is cute.
