Help With vs. Girls Names

I am expecting a little girl in November and have no idea what to name her. My partner just passed away and he wanted to name her Evangeline after his mother who died when he was very young. I like the name Evangeline but i would prefer to use it as a middle name however since he has just passed away I don’t know whether I should use the name Evangeline as a given name to honor his feelings. What do you think? Could you also suggest some more modern yet unique names that I could use as either a given or middle name. I also have to sons named Robert nickname Robbie and Thomas nickname Tom. Thanks for all your help!

I’m sorry about your partner. Could you use a feminine version of his name? eg- if his name was Patrick, use Patricia, etc.

Evangeline nn Evie would be a very pretty first name.

Evangeline is beautiful... I think when she is older she will love that her father named her since she never was able to know him. NN Eva

I agree with the pp, unless you just really don’t like Evangeline I would definitely us it as her fn to give her a strong connection to her dad...there are so many good nn possibilities, my favorites being Eva or Eve. I would do your partner’s name as a mn, or the feminine version if there is one, or another thing special to him that might make a good mn/memory.
GL and I’m very sorry, I wish you all well.

Why don’t you go with Evangeline? It’s really a beautiful name and you’ll always know your partner would have been so happy. And you can tell your daughter that her father chose her name.

I love Evangeline! You can use a more modern nickname like: Evie, Eva, Angie, Lina, etc.

I love Evangeline. It’s what my friend has decided for her future daughter’s middle name because it was her great-grandmother’s middle name. I think you should use it as a middle name as well, so you and your husband both picked names you love. It would be really nice to use a feminine version of his name. What is it? I am truly sorry for your loss, I will pray for you. God bless you and your baby!
