I kinda really like it. Unique and adorable. If you are worried she could get made fun of, though, try birdie as a nickname for some other name, like Bethanie. Good Luck!!

I think it is a cute nickname. I don’t think it woks as an adult name. Bridget nn Birdie.

Look for names that mean "bird" or somrthing related and call her Birdie as a nickname. I know Bridget was suggested yesterday.

I don’t think its appropriate for a grown woman. Can you tell us what it is you like the most about Birdie? Its sweetness, quirkiness, old fashioned charm, nature related? Something else? That would really help with making suggestions.

Suggestions anyway:
Rue
Maisie
Briony
Maple
Coralie
Lottie
Elsie
Gemma
Clover
Primrose
Annika
Wren
Glory
Edie
Story
Blythe
Kit
June/Junia
Lark
Ginny
Nola
Ivory
Zadie
Romy
Matilda

I love the suggestions of Bridgette, Sparrow and Lark.
Bernadette is pretty, uncommon and could have Birdie as a nn.
Aloma and Paloma both mean dove.
Other bird names:
Altaira
Aveline
Circe
Leonore (from the Raven)
Tori

You could switch the r and the first i around in Birdie and name her Bridie (bride-ee) which I think sounds a lot more mature, or how about something with a similar feel/look to Birdie like Briony (bry-oh-nee) which is a nature name (it means flowering vine)? Good luck!

Birdie is the name of a character in the movie "You’ve Got Mail". She is the older, motherly figure to Meg Ryan’s character. Considering that is one of my favorite movies, I really like the name and can actually see it aging okay. :-)

Bridie, like Birdie but it’s BRIdie (Br-eye-dee) also uncommon and cute.

Birdie is adorable. Just make sure it’s a nickname (Bridget, Bernadette, Roberta, Nightingale, Mavis, etc.) and all will be well.
