Nikodemo vs. Nicolas
We really want to get the nickname Nico/Niko, but we also wish for a longer, formal sounding name. We cannot decide because although Nikodemo is uncommon and offbeat, it sounds much better with our other children’s names. Our older daughters and son have strong Roman and uncommon Hebrew names. Nicolas looks a bit too simple next to them. What do you recommend?

We already have a son with a "us" ending name. This is why we feel Nicodemus may be too similar.

Definitely go with Nikolai. If you already have a son with "us" at the end of his name then Nicholas might be too close as well seeing as it has the "us" sound at the end. Nikodemo looks made up and that’s never as food thing when it comes to naming a child, not trying to be rude.

Nikolai is so handsome! and I love how Niko is Japanese for "the sound of a smile". So charming!
