Honouring vs. Family vs. Members

I have a list of family names I wish to use to honour certain family members who would share the same names and spelling but their are a few names that I don’t know if it honours them or not. The people I have left to honour are Lisa Jane (sister), Carol Leigh (sister), Gregor (grandfather) and Heather Gwen (grandmother). Do these names seem like they honour the right people, Alyssa (A-lys-a) - Lisa, Emily - Carol Leigh and George - Gregor. I can’t seem to find any names to honour my grandmother, names would be used as middle name but I don’t like any names with Gwen in them. Open to other name suggestions, but for my grandfather I’m not a huge fan of Gregor or Gregory, nor a lot of G boy names. Please help.

How about with the same meaning as Gwen (white/fair/clear)?

For Lisa, I would do Elisa. Its almost the same pronunciation as Alyssa but it has the same meaning as Lisa as they both come from Elizabeth, whereas Alyssa doesn’t

For Carol Leigh, I would suggest Charlotte, Caroline, Carly, or Callie as they all have the same meaning and origin as well. If you want to honor the "Leigh" part I would go with something like Hadley or Ansley which include the meaning of "Leigh" in their meanings (leigh means "field, meadow", Hadley means "heather field" Ansley means "Anne’s meadow")

For Gregor, maybe Greer or Grier. Its a Scottish surname derived from Gregor and is unisex, and I think it would make a great middle name for a boy or a girl.

For Heather Gwen, if your not loving any of the names derived from either, maybe the initials H.G would work. Ex: Hannah Grace or Henry George

The only boy G names I like are George and Grayson. From the names suggested I’m liking Jennifer and Ariana.

Other than Emily the only other Leigh name I like is Ashleigh (I also like Hailey but a can’t use it). My grandparents are hard to find honouring names, my grandfather didn’t have a middle name, so other than George or even Grayson the only other solution is to find a name with the same or similar meaning, or a name that connected to air (he used to build and fly his own planes).

I love Carly and it would honor Carol Leigh perfectly. Reggie is a nice nn for Gregor and I love it. Best of Luck!!!
