I dislike country names as given names and I think in this case it is especially a bad idea. The country of Germany comes with so much baggage already because of what happened with World War I and World War II as well as German stereotypes. When you give a child the name of a country you also give them an association with that country its entire history and culture and I think the history and culture of Germany is just too much for a kid to carry ever single day of his/her life.

I don’t like it. The prominent "germ" puts me off, and the similarity to Jeremy would be confusing.

I will admit to having a soft spot for Berlin on a girl, though. 😏 I think city names transition as people names easier than whole countries. I still wouldn’t use Berlin, but I do think it’d be more acceptable that Germany.

I agree with the first post. But maybe you could go with a German name? For example - Genevieve?

I also agree that "city names" would be better than "whole country names".

I wouldn’t use it, but I think it could work. I know a girl whose name is Irish, but she’s actually Asian, so I don’t think using a country as a name is a big deal.

Many germs? Or Germany? Nein, nein, nein! Even the latin name Germania wouldn’t be suitable as a baby name. The name Genevieve is not german though - Gertrude or Grete/ Gretchen would be german.

My 4 year old daughters name is Jermany (I picked J because my husbands name starts with a J).and I get A LOT of compliments in it!!! I didn’t believe I would, but I have over the years! I wouldn’t change it for anyone! Go with your heart and name your baby what YOU like!
