Is it weird vs. Having siblings with vs. Same first / middle name

We have a 5 year old girl named Hailey Brooklyn, and recently found out we’re expecting another baby girl in August or September... We didn’t think we could have more children. The only name we’re loving is Brooklyn, middle names so far Hope, Abigail, Shelby, Ava, Olivia... Is it weird having Hailey’s middle name Brooklyn and our other daughters first name Brooklyn?

Yeah that’d be a bit unoriginal if I heard it.

I think it would be better to give each kid their own name. I’ve really only seen using an older sibling’s name if that sibling had passed on and the parents wanted to honor him/her.

Yes, I would say it’s weird although we have friends who did that as well.
If you don’t like any of your mn choices as fns, maybe something similar to Brooklyn?
Payton
Jordan (Jordan and Hailey would be sweet together!)
Amberlyn
Aubrey
Ashlynn
Kennedy
Brooke

Think what that says to your second daughter. If it were a beloved family member, then I could understand -- maybe. But if not there’s no excuse for not expanding your baby naming horizons.

You just need a little time off from all of the baby name books. It can get overwhelming. When you’re ready comeback and ask us to suggest some names. Limit it if you want so we (I) don’t throw too many at you at once. Let us do the thinking for you. Good luck! :0)

Well, my husband’s first name is his oldest brother’s middle name. The difference is that it is a very distinctive family name. I don’t find that weird. But using Brooklyn seems kind of boring.

Thank you everyone... Thank you poster 3 for the name suggestions, we really love Aubrey and Jordan (we like the Jordyn spelling better for our baby girl)... Talked it over with my husband and he likes Aubrey Jordyn or Jordyn Aubrey - which one sounds nicer with Hailey Brooklyn?

Jordyn Aubrey sounds nice with Hailey Brooklyn. Aubrey and Hailey are a little too close for siblings in my opinion, but Hailey and Jordyn are really great!

We have chosen Jordyn Aubrey :-)... Thank you!

Yeah it’s kind of weird/ unfair. My dads first name is his older brothers middle name but they are both named after her brother who died when he was a child, and they are also 11 years apart in age(my dad was unexpected to say the least lol)

What about Bronx? or Bronyx (pronounced Bronx)? It would keep with the New York theme.

I just always find it hard to believe that are no other names you liked enough that you had to reuse another child’s name. I also thinks it lessens how special that child’s name, because now they have to share that, as well, and it’s like they didn’t even get their own name, just a hand-me-down.
