Baby #6 is due in 5 weeks! We have chosen Riker/Ryker Aidan for his name but can’t decide which spelling looks better. What do you think, which spelling looks better? Our older children are Morgan Ember & Malia Rose(10), Jace Wyatt(9), Harley Faith(6) and Dalton Rhys(17 months). Thanks!

Ryker Aidan is the best spelling. Rikers Island is the main jail complex for New York City and the island it is on. Do you really want to use the spelling Riker to name him after a jail? Ryker is the only spelling to use.

I was not aware of that jail complex and neither is most people where we are. We live in Indiana so there isn’t much talk about New York jail complexes or islands. We are more concerned about what is in our state rather than a state that is 3 states over and that we never plan to visit. We are actually leaning towards the spelling Riker. The fact that there is a jail complex in a different state isn’t really a reason for us to toss that spelling option out. Thanks for that information though! PP

Good luck with that. It is a very well-known jail and island and just because you aren’t familiar with it, does not mean others will not be. When you get the statement, Riker/Ryker, you mean like Rikers Island. I would not put my son through that his whole life.

Well I already know that pretty much no one where we live knows about that jail complex in New York. It’s not talked about in our schools or just in random conversations. We have told several people that we are using Riker/Ryker and no one brought up anything about a jail. So, we are sticking with it. PP

I dislike the name, as it just reminds me of the prison. But I do prefer it spelled Riker, as Ryker just looks really trendy.
