I think it works on either. I’ve known 2 people named River, both were girls. But it’s one of the few names I think can honestly go either way.

think it’s great for either. I don’t know any in real life, but there’s an actor named River (man) and a character in a tv series/movie named River (woman). So I can easily see it on both.

It reminds me of the male actor River Phoenix. In all actuality, though, I’m not a fan of the name for any gender.

I find it all boy. I mean, you CAN use it on a girl, it’s a word name so doesn’t have a traditional gender (that I know of), but I like it a lot better on a boy. Just seems all masculine to me! :)

If you’re pronouncing it Rye-ver, then boy. If you say it like the word river, which I against you mean, then girl.
