Israel vs. Boy vs. Girl

We’re probably going to end up using this as a middle name instead of a first, but I want to see which sex people tend to associate the name with regardless. I’ve heard it used on both, so I’m not a hundred percent sure. Thanks!

I’ve only known boy Israels but it certainly works for all genders.

DEFINITELY boys! I’ve heard Jerusalem used on girls but never Israel!

The original Israel was a man named Jacob. I have only thought of it as a male name.

Israel is usu. Boys name. It’s a family name we’re using Israelle for our girl.
