I think you should go for it! My hubby and I actually considered the name Shepherd but our last name doesn’t sound nearly as nice with it. Very original.

I’m not really a fan of Sherperd as a first name the way it is. But it clashes with your surname and that is definitely not good. I would keep looking. If you are looking for a unique name, maybe Schuyler pronounced as Skylar? Schuyler is the traditional spelling. Or maybe If you don’t like Schuyler/Skykar, what about..
