I like Vanessa best-- seems lovely and romantic to me. I think Veronica sounds harsher to me because where I grew up many people had very nasal voices, but it is a beautiful family of flowers.

I like Vanessa better. Veronica seems very out-dated to me.

I love both- they’re both on my list. Right now I’m leaning more towards Vanessa since it’s a little softer-sounding/flowy. I also would NOT want the nn Ronnie for Veronica and I have inlaws who shorten practically everyone’s name (including my two other kids), so that’s a pretty big factor against Veronica that others like you most likely wouldn’t use. If we used Veronica, we’d probably have to pre-select and be pretty determined to use the nn Vera instead. I don’t really like Nessa (nn for Vanessa) either, but like it better than Ronnie. Anyway, probably TMI, but just wanted share my personal thoughts on both names. They are both good choices.

Veronica is gorgeous and I ADORE the nn Vera! Which just makes the names stunningly beautiful.

I also like the nn Ronni but also like the spelling Rahni as it’s Indian and means princess.

Vanessa is OK, but way more overused, Veronica is a lot more rare. Also, I much prefer the spelling Vinessa.

Love Veronica. Not a fan of Vanessa. It’s a bit boring and dated to me.

Vanessa is rare and not used too much. It’s a literacy name and it’s a type of butterfly which I believe is a beautiful metaphor for a daughter since most parents want to see their kids spread their wings and fly.

Veronica is TOO popular where I live.

I disagree with above poster. Yes Vanessa is beautiful, but it’s not rare at all. I had like a million Vanessa’s in my high school and I’ve only ever met 1 Veronica. I’d say Veronica is quite rare for names that aren’t unheard of. The meaning of Vanessa is super beautiful though, both butterfly and a legendary goddess of some sort. Veronica’s meaning is beautiful as well though, meaning "true image" and being the name of a legendary saint who wiped Jesus’s face with a towel and found his imagine imprinted on it.

Love them both honestly (I couldn’t vote), they’re both stunning! And I think they’re both quite rare nowadays. For Veronica I recommend the nn Vera and for Vanessa I love Nessa and Nessie is really pretty and cute as well!

Best of luck :)
