Please vs. Help!

Hi! So I have a 3 year old named Aurora Sage, she obviously LOVES her name and so do we! I am having another baby girl soon and I would sincerely love to name her Elsa Raine. Is it too tacky naming them like Disney Princess? Aurora was named to honor the fact that my husband proposed to me at the northern lights and not after the princess. I mean Elsa is seriously growing on me. Would they be made fun of? Do they go well together. I am literally so confused. - June.

While I think both are nice names individually, I do think they are a bit tacky/cheesy together. I know a little Elsa (sister is Cecilia) and she is constantly being "teased" for her name, and her sister doesn’t have a Disney name. I think for her sake your better off going with a different name or maybe a similar name like Eloise or Elisabeth and nicknaming her "Elsa" when she is older. If she likes it she can go by Elsa, but if she finds the Disney connection too much she can go by her full name or a different nickname.

I agree with the above poster that it would work better as a nickname. There’s also Elsie which is similar, and I personally find it adorable!

Elsa is a pretty name but I don’t think your daughters will think thank you for it later. You can always use Elsa as a pet name at home (we call our daughter Star) but I would hold back on the Princess theme.

Elsa is a name that’s thousands of years old, Disney didn’t create it. It’s just unfortunate that she’s born in the Frozen era so people are scared to use it now out of fear of association. It’s a lovely name. Elsa Pataky and Elsa Hosk are beautiful examples of real life women named Elsa. At the end of the day there’s always Elisa.

Belle, Ariel, Jasmine, Tiana, Giselle: all Disney princesses and all common names. The point is use what you LOVE not what other people’s irrelevant opinions are. It’s not like you’re naming the girl Moon Unit or Moxie Crimefighter. (cringe!)

Personally, I like name themes and I love Elsa. So beautiful and historic. Also, Elsa isn’t a Disney Princess, she’s a Disney Queen. ; ) If it is the only name that feels right to you and your family, go for it!! Don’t worry about what other people will say. And I am sure one day she will love her name too. Good luck!!
