Russell Johnathan vs. Rusty Nell?

We both really love the name Russell for our son. We plan on calling him Russ/Russy as a young boy. Only problem is if people call him Rusty with our last name which is Nell. Do you think this would be a problem for him?

Dont use rusty please. I quickly glaced at the title of the post and thought it was Rusty Nail. I think teasing will be a big problem with Rusty. Really big. Russell Johnathan is a great name. Go with it.

If you call him Russ instead of Rusty he will probably just grow up as Russ or Russell, then it won’t be a problem. My husband Anthony has gone 34 years without being called Tony. What the family calls him and what he calls himself will determine what nn others use.
