Kate vs. Katherine

I love both names equally, but I want to use a longer, more exotic middle name like Francesca or Valentina (just in case my daughter "isn’t a Kate"). Paired with an already long fn like Katherine, the two together can be a bit much!!! So which is better: Kate [insert a long mn] or Katherine [long middle name]?

You could always wait until she’s born to decide. I personally voted for Kate.

Kathryn is shorter but pronounced the same. I changed my daughter’s spelling because I wanted to use Elizabeth.
Katherine Elizabeth
Kathryn Elizabeth
I know it is only 2 letters but it looks shorter.

As a Kathryn called Katie if your plan it to call her Kate just call her that in the first place. I have never liked my name as Kathryn. I was super shy as a kid and hated correcting the teacher at the beginning of each year. Just a thought.

Why name her Katherine if you plan to call her Kate? Just call her Kate and select a longer mn.
