Phedra vs. Phaedra

I saw the name "PHAEDRA" on one of the polls that someone suggested. I really like the name but can’t find it in any books. Is "PHEDRA" the same name? And is it pronounced FAY druh?

I pronounced Phaedra (fay-dra) and Phedra (fe-druh). I prefer Phaedra but if you want to change the spelling Faydra would be fine.

I’ma a nurse so when i read that ’name’ I laughed because I thought of ephedra (like the medication). Maybe that’s why you can’t find it in books because it’s not a childs name but a drug! Just food for thought....if you cannot pronounce the childs name, and can’t find it anywhere, then maybe that’s a CLUE...perhaps another name is in order! LOL(make sure its not a dr’s order!)

Phaedra is a variant of Phaidra. The name has 3 pronunciations: "FYE drah", "FEE drah", and "FAY drah". I prefer the latter. Phedra IS a variant of the same name pronounced "FEH drah".

To the second poster: Yes, Phaedra is a REAL name. She was a Greek mythological character. Get educated: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phaedra_(mythology)
