Elodie vs. ??

We want to have "Ellie" as a nickname but the only one I’m in love with is Elodie. I’ve searched and searched for names and nothing compares to how much I like this name. I’m worried ppl will think it’s too ’out there’. Most people where I live will have never heard of it. DH likes Elodie but we are both unsure about actually using it. Any words of wisdom? Suggestions? We don’t prefer Eloise or Elizabeth. I like Ellison but feel it’s a bit too masculine.

Elodie is lovely! It may be unusual, but I don’t think it is too out there at all. Especially since she will have a common nickname. I say go for it!

Elodie is GORGEOUS!! Don’t shy away from a name because it’s unique, embrace it! Honestly, it makes the name that much more special and beautiful.
I grew up with a very, very rare (as in it’s so old you can’t even find it on google) Irish name my grandma found in a book when she was young. I even had to correct pronunciation with substitute teachers occasionally and I was introverted with strangers, yet it never bothered me. I always got tons of compliments on my name and the rarity made me feel very special actually.
I have friends and family who tell me they wish their name were more unique.

Elodie is absolutely perfect for the nn you want, too!

LOVE Elodie! I would be relieved that the name I love was so rare. It’s not too out there at all either, it has such a beautiful classic loveliness to it.

Elena
Elissa
Elisabet
Elisabella/Elizabella
Ella
Elora
Elana

I totally agree with you about Ellison! I actually really like it but it’s a bit masculine.

Elodie is great! Don’t subject her to such a common over used named like Ellie just to have it present. Elodie is good on its own!
