Rowan for a girl vs. Yes vs. No

So we are expecting a girl and we love the name Rowan. We know it is unisex but just aren’t sure if it sounds too masculine. Vote and let us know if we should use it for our daughter or not and offer middle name suggestions. So far we like Rowan Alexis. Thanks!

Love it.
Also love Elowen/Elowyn which sounds sort of similar, but a bit more feminine.

I think Rowan is fine for a girl but I would give her a more feminine middle name than Alexis since Alexis is also a unisex name.

I live in the UK where it is definitely a male name, so for me it’s quite hard to see on a girl. I know 3 boys called Rowan and I know of one girl called Rowan (she’s a friend of a friend’s sister, I’ve never actually met her - her brother’s name is Fingal though so I’m not sure about their naming style in general).

Assuming you’re in the US, Rowan works fine for a girl there. I wouldn’t pair it with Alexis though, to me that whole name sounds unisex on the masculine side, I’d probably go for something a bit frillier.

As for stats:
982 girls named Rowan last year in the US, #331 in popularity.
1799 boys named Rowan last year in the US, #219 in popularity.
So definitely unisex, but with male bias. As it is unisex, I’d say go for it.

My niece’s name is Rowan so it’s all girl in my opinion. I can see it on a boy as well but I first think of girl because of my niece.

I’ve only known one Rowan who was a girl, and I first came across the name in a book, in which it was given to a girl. I think it works fine on both and I like it
I wouldn’t use Alexis though, maybe something more feminine.

Masculine NOT unisex, just because girls use a boys name doesn’t change what it is and always has been - girls version Rowena

Rowan is definitely a boy name just because there girls that use boy names doesn’t make it a boy name
Girls use Logan and it’s in the boys top 9 so that comment is dumb near the top. Rowan is handsome.

Sorry I meant doesn’t make it a girls name ! Girls should stop trying to make every boy name unisex. Rowan isn’t girly
