Hayden vs. Boy vs. Girl
I have never met someone named Hayden and my first instinct when I heard it was girl. What are your opinions? I’m having a girl and it’s one of my top names along with Sage. Do you think people would assume boy? Thanks!

I’d definitely assume boy. Haven is a cute, more girly alternative. Good luck!

It can work for either! The only Hayden I know is a girl, so I associate the name more with a girl personally

Its unisex. I like it for a girl since I personally know no Haydens and way too many boy Jaydens/Jaden/Jaidens. There’s a female actress with this name.

Historically it’s a boys name, so that is what I would expect.

I only know boys names Hayden. Jayden/Jaedyn is what I hear on both boys and girls.

The only one I ever knew was a girl, so I think of a girl when I hear it. Also there’s an actress with the name

Who cares if people assume boy? It isn’t unheard of for girls. And people will learn her gender and act accordingly.

Hayden is unisex, it’s actually one of the most unisex names out there at the moment.
If you (OP) don’t want people to ever assume boy, then don’t use a unisex name. If you’re using a unisex name you have to accept that sometimes people will assume your child is a different sex to the one they were assigned at birth. If you care that people might assume boy, don’t do it.
If you don’t care, you just like the name and were just wondering about what people would assume first, then feel free to use it.

All three Haydens I’ve met and known have been boys. I don’t think it’s a girl’s name at all. I would use Hayley or Heidi for a girl rather than Hayden.
