Benjamin Pierce vs. Nathaniel Gavin vs. Carter James

My name is Blair Scott and my husband and I are expecting our first child. We both come from well off and prominent families, so we are expected to give our child a "proper" name. I like classics but my husband prefers something unique. If you have any suggestions we are open minded. Thanks for your help! ~ Blair

What about Carver instead of Carter? That would be unique and still classy sounding.

You have some really awesome names picked out. I love the combos you put together. Benjamin Pierce really sticks out to me though. I love Benjamin, I think it sounds professional and cool at the same time. Pierce it just awesome, I have always loved it. I think it gives Benjamin a bit of an edge, in a very sophisticated way. I like Nathaniel, but I think Ben is more professional sounding than Nate (assuming he decides to go by a nickname). Carter is nice, but I don’t like it quite as much. So, Benjamin Piece is definitely my pick!

I think it’s sad that you have to choose a name based on being a well off and prominent family. Wow!

How about:

Bennett Nathaniel
Carter Bennett
Benson Carter
Carter Benson
Chandler Gavin
Harrison Carter
Carter Harrison
Garrison Bennett
Nolan Pierce
Nolan Carter
Carter Nolan

Or how about a name that is "proper" but has a nice, different nickname?

Sebastian "Bastian"
Harrison "Harris"
Miles "Milo"
Quinton "Quincy"
Oliver "Ollie"
Benjamin "Jamie"
Nicholas "Cole"

I dunno.

Sadie: That’s rude. I completely understand. If you come from a professional family, you don’t want a goofy sounding name. A name really can make a difference in the professional world based on how people view you and how seriously they take you.

Actually I don’t think it’s rude at all. I come from a well off family too and that didn’t put any pressure on me to pick a "proper" name. A name can make a difference in the professional world but it shouldn’t be based on how well off you are...I agree with Sadie 100%.

Sadie thank you for the honesty it is very much appreciated. However the name of my child greaty reflects me and my family in the professional world. I know that shouldn’t matter, but sometimes it does. I also know my family and the names within it. I don’t want my child to have a "goofy" name when all of his cousins are running around with names such as Elizabeth, Camden, Henry, Joshua, and Samantha.

I think maybe next time just use the wording that you need a professional, classy name. The wealth of your family is irrelevant to others and stating that you are wealthy kinda makes you sound snobby. I am pretty sure that is what Sadie was getting at. I like Nathaniel best. Benjamin Pierce is also nice and "proper."
