Piper vs. Opinions? vs. Middle name suggestions?

I’m really loving the name Piper but before I suggest it to my husband I wanted to get some insight on it. What do you all think about? I brought it up to one person and they brought up the Sarah Palin connection- which I didn’t even know about. Does anyone else think that? Also, do you have any middle name suggestions? Last name starts with N. Thank you!!

Its not very pretty and also can be unisex. It’s not something I would name a baby. Sorry. Maybe Penelope. Penny as a nickname.

I really dislike Piper personally. It’s so trendy and masculine sounding on a little girl. I don’t think it sounds attractive at all.

Thank you. I appreciate opinions from both sides. I have always tended to like classic names for girls. Abigail, Eleanor, Danielle, etc. And I’ll be the first to admit I wasn’t fond of Piper when I first heard it but it has grown on me.

I’m not a fan of Piper. Sounds sort of harsh and grating to me. As someone who likes names with nicknames, it also bothers my that Piper doesn’t have any cute ones.

I don’t like it. It just isn’t pretty. The other examples you gave are far nicer imo.

Piper is a nice name, though not a favorite of mine, but I don’t have a problem with it. I do know a couple of dogs with this name, but people name their dogs all sorts of names these days, so I don’t find it a big problem. I do agree Penelope would be cute, and you could call her Penny or Nellie, or even Lola. But if you are fond of Piper, it won’t hurt to suggest it too your husband. Good luck!

I don’t see a problem with the name. It’s hardly masculine compared to ’Cameron’ and ’Addison’ and all these boys names parents give to girls. While it’s not on my personal list of favourites, I think it’s fine. Pipa is another alternate spelling (though people may confuse it for Pippa). All the best!! :)

I had no idea there was a Sarah Palin connection. Is that her other Daughter? I only know of Bristol. I definitely don’t think that’s an issue.
In regards to some of the other comments.I don’t think of Piper as being masculine at all.
Although the name isn’t something I would personally choose.I do appreciate it’s spunkiness. It’s a cute name.

I love the name Piper. I associate it with a character in a book series I used to read (she’s a daughter of the goddess Aphrodite and she’s really cool). I like how Piper sounds and how it ’bounces’ - Py-Per! I also like the name Poppy which doesn’t get much love on this site either.

I think it’s spunky and cute I also like poppy

I’m not a fan. I can’t really see the appeal of the name. And what would you call her for short? Pie? I’m not sure she’d appreciate that as she got older.

I think Piper is really nice. I like the nns Pipes or Pip. Or she could be P.J. etc depending on her middle name.

Also, in regards to nicknames, another option could be to give her a middle name that starts with E so her initials spell PEN. Then Pen/Penny could be another possible nickname. I knew a girl who did that with her initials SAM and another with the initials LOU. I also think Pip is a cute nickname.

It’s just kind of blah. Nothing special.

Perhaps spelling it Pipa would give it a more feminine feel? But it think it’s a cute name, and will age well too. It’s cute without being cutesy, if you get what I mean.

Pipa looks like Pippa not Piper, I think the original spelling is best. Also I don’t think it needs a more ’feminine feel’ I don’t know any Pipers personally, but the ones I know of (media etc) are all women, I think it would work on a boy too, but I’ve only ever seen it on girls.
Lovely name! Love the nn Pip!

Piper reminds me of the wrestler Rowdy Rowdy Piper. Also, all I see is the word "pipe" in this name.
