Thoughts on vs. Rayden??

Hi, my husband and I are expecting our first, a boy. We want you o name our son after my husbands dad, Ray, but don’t like Ray or Raymond. We like newer names. We love Rayden. What are your thoughts on it? Middle names needed too. Thx!!

It sounds a little to harsh. How about Rayner?

I actually like it

I’m not really keen on it. It sounds made up and kind of reminds me of Reagun, Raygun. Also, there are so many boy’s names that end in -den (Aiden, Hayden, Jaden, Brayden, Caden) and I’m just so tired of them all. I guess for me it comes down to this question, "Why name your child after someone if you don’t really like the name?" Another idea you could do is take the meaning of the name, which is "king" and find another name with a similar meaning. I would suggest:
Ryan = little king
Eric = ruler
Richard = powerful ruler

Rather than name him after someone, use that person’s name to inspire a name that you DO like.

I agree with Miss Nomer. Pick a name you love and use that OR honor your father-in-law by using his initial as your baby’s first initial. Also, the meaning idea is a good one. I’d vote for Eric.

Rayden goes right with the "Aiden" trend. (Jayden, Brayden, Haden, Aiden, etc.) If you don’t mind a trendy name, I don’t see why not.
You could also name him Gray... Unusual, but not completely out of the ordinary. And it’s got Ray right in it!

I had a student named rayvon at one point and that could be a possibility if you liked it. Sry only suggestion i have.

Eh it’s okay. Have you thought about a first name you love with the middle name Ray?

Otherwise I agree with the other posters about the "aiden" "-den" trend. I’m kind of over it.
