full name vs. for nickname vs. Cady

I really want to name my daughter Cady, short for something, but Cadence...our last name starts w/an S & I don’t like the flow. Anyone have any other ideas, or is it weird to name her a nickname? Can her name be Catherine w/the nn Cady? (My mom’s name) Thanks!

I would prefer Catherine nn Caty, but Cady is still good. Catherine is a gorgeous name. Cadence is also pretty. Other options include:
Cadmium (meaning color term)
Arcadia (Latin--Adventuresome)
Cadencia (French--Rhythmic)
Cadena/Cadea (Latin--To be a rhythm)
Cadis (Greek--White Fire)
Cadyna (English--Rhythmic)
Leocada/Leocadia (French--Lioness-like)

I agree, nn Cady for Catherine is fine. After all many Katherines are nn Katie.

Thanks, everybody! I am leaning toward Catherine, but I am keeping Cadencia in mind, as we are French-Canadian & my husband is a drummer, so the meaning is really neat. Sorry Cadence lovers, I am 100% sure I don’t like the flow of Candence...you would understand if I wrote our last name but I don’t do that for security reasons. Thank you again, everyone!

Truth be told, you called call her Babette and still call her Cady if you wanted to. That’s not a all helpful, is it?

MY name is CADY and its not short for anything but still ITS AN AWESOME NAME :)
