I know a John Earl so Johnny Earl gets my vote. I like formal names, though, with nns. Jonathon Earl would be nice with nn Johnny Earl. If you use Burnell Bodean, I would nn him Buddy. That’s just my opinion.

I think unusual is great, but old fogie names just stink. Here are some other ideas:

I sort of agree with the 3rd poster. My main thing is anything but Buddy!!! That is almost as bad as Buck, Bubba or Buster. I also agree that John nn Johnny is better and more formal for school/work. GL!!

I love Buddy! It is my grandfather and Dads name. They love it and have had no problems with it. My grandpa goes by Bud now. And their last name is Earle, I just thought that was funny.
